FAQ
Common questions across the three audiences. If your question isn't here, the glossary defines specialized terms, and the participant flows walk through every step of every actor's lifecycle.
For viewers
How do I sign up?
Connect a Solana wallet (Phantom, Solflare, Backpack), sign in with Twitch, sign a one-time message proving the wallet is yours. Total time ~2 minutes if you have a wallet, ~10 minutes if you need to install one. Full walkthrough in the viewer guide.
How much can I earn?
Depends on the streamer's pool size, how many viewers are present, and your engagement level. A typical viewer watching 10 hours/week across 3 streamers earns roughly $15–25/month. Top engaged viewers on large channels can earn meaningfully more. See the viewer flow §accrual for the engagement multiplier table.
Why didn't I qualify for a distribution / NFT drop?
Most common reasons:
- Your Twitch account is less than 30 days old (anti-sybil floor).
- Your wallet doesn't hold the 100 BTV anti-sybil stake (new viewers get this free as an onboarding airdrop on first link).
- You weren't present in chat during the distribution window.
- The streamer set additional eligibility (sub-only, badge required).
- Your wallet was flagged in a sybil cohort review.
The anti-fraud doc explains the scoring layers.
Do I have to claim before a deadline?
Yes. The default claim window is 30 days from distribution
finalize. After that the streamer can clawback unclaimed tokens.
The window is shown clearly in your dashboard.
What happens if I lose my wallet seed phrase?
Your accruals and any claimed tokens are gone. Self-custody means nobody — including BitView — can recover them. Back up your seed phrase before linking. Phantom and Solflare both prompt you to back up at install.
Can I link multiple wallets?
One wallet per Twitch user_id, one Twitch account per wallet. You can change wallets, but with a 30-day cooling-off period (anti-fraud measure against compromised Twitch accounts). See viewer flow §Phase 8.
Tax implications?
We don't give tax advice. In most jurisdictions, earned tokens count as income at fair-market-value at claim time, and any subsequent appreciation is a capital gain at sale time. Consult your local tax professional. We provide a CSV export of your claim history per tax year for Pro+ tier; free tier viewers can pull it manually from the on-chain history.
Is this gambling? Is it legal where I live?
No — you're not putting up funds you could lose. The pool is funded by the streamer, you earn by being present in chat. We block sanctioned jurisdictions (OFAC SDN list) and screen wallets at link time. Your local laws may have additional considerations; we don't operate in jurisdictions where the model is incompatible with local law (currently exclusion list is published in the risk and compliance doc).
My favorite streamer doesn't run BitView. Can I refer them?
Yes — and you'll get 3 months of Pro credit + 1,000 BTV bonus if they sign up and reach Pro tier. See the streamer playbook §Referral program.
What if BitView shuts down?
Your already-claimed tokens, NFTs, and BTV are in your self-custody wallet — they're yours regardless of BitView's status. Already-finalized distributions remain claimable from the on-chain merkle distributor even if BitView's frontend goes offline (community fork would be trivial). Future accruals would obviously stop.
For streamers
How do I sign up?
Same flow as a viewer (connect wallet + sign in with Twitch + sign message), then create your first distribution from the streamer dashboard. Free tier is available immediately. Detailed walkthrough in the streamer guide.
What's the cost to me?
| Action | Cost |
|---|---|
| Sign up | $0 |
| First distribution (Free tier) | $5 + the pool you fund |
| Pro tier subscription | $99/month |
| Plus tier subscription | $499/month |
| Identity-tier token launch | 1 SOL (~$140) or stake 10K BTV |
| NFT drop creation (Free tier) | $5 per drop |
| NFT drop creation (Pro/Plus) | $0 |
The pool itself (BTV / USDC / STREAM that pays your viewers) is not a fee — it's the reward you're choosing to give your audience. You acquire it from your own funds; viewers receive it.
Will this compete with my Twitch sub revenue?
No — and this is important. BitView is on-chain, off-Twitch. Twitch subs, bits, ad revenue, and Prime gifts are entirely unaffected. BitView adds an additional engagement layer; it doesn't pull from your existing Twitch monetization.
What's the time commitment per stream?
Roughly 10 minutes setup the first time, ~1 minute for each subsequent distribution (parameters auto-fill from the previous one). During the stream itself the bot runs autonomously — you can ignore it entirely or actively use the OBS overlay and chat commands.
Can my viewers cash out to USD?
Yes. Earned BTV / STREAM swap to USDC via the integrated router in one click; from USDC viewers can offramp via standard Solana fiat ramps (Phantom / Coinbase Pay / MoonPay). BitView doesn't directly process fiat.
Can I take my streamer-token elsewhere?
Yes. Identity-tier streamer-tokens are normal SPL mints. List them on Raydium, integrate with your game, bridge to other chains — whatever you want. We don't lock you in.
What's the legal liability for my streamer-token?
Streamer-tokens are issued by you, not BitView. BitView provides infrastructure but the issuer is the streamer. We default-deny launches that look like investment vehicles ("price will go up", pre- sales, profit-share promises) and require utility-coded framing (perks, access, raffles). Above a TBD revenue threshold our launchpad prompts you to consider securities-law structure with counsel; we don't run pre-sales of your token. Full posture in risk and compliance §securities risk.
What if my Twitch channel gets banned?
Your linked wallet remains. Past accruals from finalized distributions remain claimable. New accruals stop while the ban is in effect. After unban, you re-link and continue.
Can I change my distribution parameters mid-stream?
No — parameters are committed at registration time so the merkle tree is provably fair. You can run a new distribution with different parameters (Pro+ unlimited, Free tier limited to 3/month).
Tax / accounting on my side?
The pool you fund is a marketing expense (in most jurisdictions); the creator royalty + reserve unlock + sponsorship co-share are income. Plus tier streamers receive a yearly statement; Pro tier can export from the dashboard. As with viewers, we don't give tax advice.
How do I cancel my Pro/Plus subscription?
Cancel any time via the Stripe billing portal. No long-term contracts. You retain free-tier access until end of billing cycle, then drop back to Free tier limits. Past distributions and NFT drops are unaffected.
For brand sponsors
Note: the sponsorship marketplace launches in Phase 4. The answers below are the design intent; final terms in marketplace ToS at launch.
How do I run a campaign?
Plus-tier streamers and brand-side sales staff onboard via the sponsorship marketplace (separate from the streamer dashboard). Brands deposit USDC into BitView escrow, define audience criteria (category, geography, average viewers, language), receive matched streamers, accept terms per-streamer. Brand-side onboarding doc ships in Phase 4.
What does it cost?
| Component | Rate |
|---|---|
| BitView take rate | 5% of campaign budget |
| Streamer co-share | 5% of campaign budget |
| Viewer pool | 90% of campaign budget |
Discount for BTV-denominated payment: BitView take rate drops from 5% to 4%.
What audience metrics do I get?
- Unique wallets credited (verifiable on-chain).
- Claim rate (% of credited wallets who actually claimed).
- Cohort overlap with your existing audience (anonymized).
- Time-to-claim distribution.
- Geographic / language cohort breakdown (anonymized).
- Optional: post-campaign retention (do they come back to the streamer's next non-sponsored stream).
Reports are delivered as a campaign dashboard + downloadable CSV.
Is the audience verifiable?
Yes — that's the core differentiation versus traditional influencer marketing. Each credited wallet is on-chain auditable. You can independently verify reach numbers from public Solana history. You're not paying for streamer-claimed averages.
Do I need KYC?
Yes — KYB onboarding via Sumsub or Persona. Required because we escrow your funds and you receive engagement reporting.
Can I co-mint NFTs as part of a campaign?
Yes — Plus-tier streamers can run brand-co-branded NFT drops. Asset includes the brand logo + mark, viewers receive an NFT they can trade, brand gets on-chain attribution. See NFT drops §Phase 4.
Sanctions / compliance?
Brand sponsors must pass KYB. Campaign audience is screened (no sanctioned jurisdictions). Reports include anonymized sanctioned-screen counts (always zero for us — those wallets can't participate).
Reporting / invoicing?
Standard SaaS-style invoicing for the campaign budget + BitView take rate. Streamer co-share is paid directly to the streamer's wallet on-chain. We provide tax-residency-appropriate VAT/GST handling for EU/UK brands.
General
What blockchain is BitView on?
Solana mainnet. We don't bridge to other chains. Viewer wallets are Solana wallets.
Why Solana and not Ethereum / Base / Arbitrum?
Three reasons:
- Fees: micro-rewards are economically viable below 1¢/tx. Ethereum mainnet attempts (Roll) failed on gas alone.
- Throughput: claim-time spikes in the thousands of tx/sec are absorbed without congestion fees.
- Audited primitives: Jito/Jupiter merkle distributor + Metaplex Core / Bubblegum are battle-tested, audited, and free to reuse.
Full architectural rationale in architecture and the upcoming ADR set.
Is BitView open source?
Yes. The bitview-bot, bitview-app, distributor, and checkpoint repos are public. We take outside contributions through standard PR review.
Who owns BitView?
Currently the operating entity (specifics TBD on incorporation). Phase 5+ governance handoff transfers fee-schedule + marketplace + treasury policy authority to BTV-weighted votes. The protocol becomes operator-only by Phase 6+.
How does BitView make money?
Eight revenue lines documented in revenue streams. Top three: swap protocol fees (0.10% on routed volume), Pro/Plus subscriptions ($99/$499 per month), and the sponsorship marketplace (5% take rate).
Are you raising / investing?
There's a draft seed pitch. For partnership, fundraise, or strategic conversations, the business overview is the entry point and the contact details are in the site footer.
Where can I see operating metrics?
A quarterly transparency report will be published on this site once production launches. Until then, the metrics doc lays out the framework and targets.
